Biography

Jaqlin Medlock is a hard-of-hearing dancer, photographer, designer and certified energy practitioner based in Jersey City. A Bronx, NY native, she holds a BFA in Dance with a minor in Photography from Marymount Manhattan College. Medlock has toured internationally, performing throughout Europe, South Africa, and Southeast Asia, as well as across the United States. She has danced works by renowned choreographers such as Merce Cunningham, Trisha Brown, Nacho Duato, Donald Byrd, and Angelin Preljocai, and has collaborated with artists including Nejla Yatkin, Sonya Tayeh, Julie Bour, and Pedro Ruiz.

A member of Stephen Petronio Company since 2011, she has also been a longtime performer with Davalois Fearon Dance and Indelible Dance, and currently also dances with Site Specific Dances and Kenia Rosete Dance. Recognized as “On The Rise” by Dance Magazine in 2012 and awarded a TWI-NY Pandemic Award in 2020, Medlock’s artistry is informed by her experiences studying tango, salsa, and flamenco, reflecting her appreciation for connection in movement.
